The Last Dance (Ang Huling El Bimbo)

'With some loving and some fruit to bake, life is a piece of cake'

Meet Manila's legendary alternative rock act, the Beatles of the Philippines, The Eraserheads. RIP

As taken off their wikipedia:

The Eraserheads, Eraserheads, or E-Heads was a prominent Filipino rock band of the 1990s, formed by Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro. The band is one of the most successful, critically-acclaimed, and significant bands in the history of Original Pilipino Music, earning them the accolade, "The Beatles of the Philippines."The Eraserheads are also credited for spearheading a second wave of Manila band invasions, paving the way for a host of influential Philippine alternative rock bands.

IMO here are the three essential cuts off their discography:

This song Ang Huling El Bimbo ('The Last Dance' won the MTV Asian Viewer's Choice Award in 1997, making the Eraserheads the first and only Filipino artists to have ever won the award

What is El Bimbo?

"El Bimbo" was the song that gained French Disco group Claude Morgan and Laurent Rossi international fame in the summer of 1975. The tune to "El Bimbo" is "Tanha Shudham Tanha", composed by the Afghan musician and singer Ahmad Zahir. "El Bimbo" is popular with street musicians and orchestral composers alike. The song was also heard in four of the seven Police Academy films starting from the first film up until Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol as the tango song in The Blue Oyster Bar scenes.

"El Bimbo" was released in France in June 1974 on the Pathe-Marconi record label, and in the UK in August 1975. The track went to #1 in France and #10 in the UK Singles Chart. It sold 1.3 million copies in France alone, and throughout the world over three million discs. As well as in France, the tune topped charts in Spain, Italy, Denmark, Turkey and Lebanon. In Argentina it was #2, and was a chart hit in Belgium, Switzerland, Mexico and the United States. The record reached #1 in the Billboard Disco Singles, #2 in the Hot Dance Club Play and #43 in the Hot 100 charts in the U.S.

whatcha think?

Paramore Rock Steady, No Doubt about it?

The rundown on No Doubt's Rock Steady:

Rock Steady is the fifth album by American rock band No Doubt, released December 11, 2001 on Interscope Records.

Paramore's Riot!:

Riot! is the second studio album from rock band Paramore, succeeding their debut album All We Know Is Falling, and was released in the United States on June 12, 2007 and in the United Kingdom on June 25, 2007.

Both sources from their respective Wikipedias.

Notice the similarities in artwork:

Opinions include:

1. Its just an artwork design similarity convention.

2. Isn't it coincidental that they are both female fronted bands?

3. Paramore was influenced by No Doubt

Poison The Well - Exist Underground

CREED REUNITED, CREunitED?

HELLO MY FRIENDS WE MEET AGAIN, ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE MY DRUNKEN MELTDOWN IN 2003

Can you feel the excitement in the airrrrrrr? To a crowd of 15,000 in a crowded night in Pittsburgh no less!

Excerpts include:

“Somebody tell me this is not a dream,” said frontman Scott Stapp between songs, him climbing the drum riser before the songs’s climax to 'Higher', as the crowd’s roars gave way to applause as band played its stately riff in a rain of sparks.

For the encore — “One,” “One Last Breath,” and “My Sacrifice,” which Stapp dedicated to the crowd and the overseas troops — Tremonti and a shirtless Stapp stood back-to-back on the stage’s runway, surrounded by the crowd, Stapp’s traps glistening in a shower of white light. They two looked like onetime WWE favorites reunited to reclaim the tag-team title.

“Thank you so much,” Stapp told the crowd. “God bless you. What a homecoming this is.”

Set list:

“Ode”
“Bullets”
“My Own Prison”
“Say I”
“Torn”
“Never Die”
“What If”
“Unforgiven”
“What’s This Life For”
“Overcome”
“Are You Ready”
“Faceless Man”
“With Arms Wide Open”
“Higher”

Encore:
“One”
“One Last Breath”
“My Sacrifice”
